Naming No2 has proven to be a bigger challenge than naming our first. You see, I LOVE the name Adelaide, but it is a bit complicated for most folks. Our preschool artwork is labeled with every possible spelling under the sun (some not phonetically even possible), and it is most people's assumptions that we intended on nicknaming her before she even entered the world. I've tried to tame my mama bear instinct to not react to such a benign issue, but truth be told, my blood pressure elevates a notch or two when my daughter's name deviates in any way from the way I intended it to be. So for No2, I've set forth with new ambition: simplicity.
Another reason naming No2 has been harder is that we now see that Adelaide is Adelaide. She was meant to be Adelaide. No2 has no associations other than her movements and ultrasounds and who we anticipate she MIGHT be. My top pick was quickly nixed by Husband who for some reason, with only one exception, doesn't like Zs in names (good thing he wasn't too turned off by the Z in my maiden name).
Lastly, I'm a bit of a freak when it comes to syllables. I suppose the linguistics major in me is a bit obsessed with stresses and balance to words. I get why iambic pentameter was so cool. With our last name being one syllable, I tend to lean towards longer names. Which is a shame because I like a lot of names that just wouldn't fit with Wells. Per exemplo: Will Wells? nope. Brooke Wells? Too much water. Any variation of "___ella/ellie" to flowy. Max Wells? Maxwell House? Doesn't work.
I came across this website that provides suggestions for sibling names based on some source I didn't research. My guess would be the social security administration or user feedback. The Social Security Administration actually has a pretty neat baby name tool that makes their website and department a bit less important or scary or grown-up. :) Anyway, below are suggestions for No2 based on her big sister being Adelaide. While our current favorite is NOT listed, I think it's a bit neat how many connections are in the list:

Adalyn Annalise BenjaminBernadette
Bejamin, Caroline (previous contender with Adelaide), Greta (my mom), Jasper (favorite vampire)

I literally just laughed out loud for you saying we are dumber for reading your blog. HA!
I will have to see how well we did naming Parker's siblings. Is that the same site where it lists top names from every year? I think that's the social security site. Mark has wasted many an hour there!
I ditto the above comment on the dumber for reading your blog. You lady make me laugh and all the while I'm hearing your voice telling this story.
How about Aaron/Erin/Aron/Ehren/Air-in?
Very short, its versatility is unparalleled.
BTW-Raisuli is Aaron McK - sorry for confusion. I hadn't used this account in about two decades, seemingly.
A-mac. Dr. A-mac. Dr. Raisuli? Airhead? Yes, I see the versatility is unparalleled. Great seeing you here!
