3 Months

Clara turned 3 months last week and I'm waaaay behind with keeping up with all of her milestones! She is still such a happy, chill, pudge of cooing, smiling rolls. The quick version: she started sleeping through the night around 7 weeks, and starting a few weeks ago, began sleeping 12 hours without a dream feed. To look at her, you'd expect nothing less, because she's huge. At her 2 month appointment, she was in the 97% for weight and in the 90% for height. She smiles at Adelaide and loves watching her. She now sucks her thumb. She has laughed a few times but not anything consistent. I don't expect her to be on par with any of the physical milestones due to her size and her laid back personality, but she has rolled over a time or two. Most of her seems extremely different from Adelaide at this age, except her chattiness. I had no idea any child could be chattier than Adelaide, but Clara may have her beat (compared to A at 3 months). I'm sure it won't last, as Adelaide doesn't let most of us get a word in edgewise, but Clara is a squawk-box for now. She doesn't seem to mind being passed around in crowds and can roll with it if we go out to restaurants, etc. WE.HAVE.A.LIFE that we never had as parents to newborn Adelaide.

She had been really stinky at taking bottles up until last week at the beach with my mom, who made up a trick that has so far worked. If it continues to work, I'll have to post about it, because I know so many people whose little ones loathed the bottle like both of my girls have. Anyway, good thing it's finally working, because I'm heading back to work this weekend and I also am excited about some girls nights (and weekend to Windy Gap - wahoo) coming up.

Her hair. Oh her hair. I have no idea how to document Clara's head. Pictures don't do it justice. It really is comical. Pretty, yes. But mostly funny. Her hair makes her look so much older, and bigger than she already is. In looking at her profile, her hair honestly takes up a third of her head, and the humidity does some really funny things to it. We can't leave the house without strangers commenting on her hair. Yes, I had heartburn, No, Adelaide didn't have as much, Ha-ha, I know, you're jealous (to the bald men who tend to rub their heads and ask what shampoo I use when they see her)... But the most frequent question, it is "Do you style it?" No, I do not. But I do experiment with the direction it should be combed. If it is parted and combed slightly forward, she is Justin Bieber. If is parted and combed back slightly, she is Kate Goselin. If I come the front straight back, she is THIS. I'm at a loss.

You add so much to our family, Big Girl. Can't wait to see what the next month brings!

your humor always brings me down to a level so comfortable & heartwarming. I love the comments & I had people ask me the same about Cadence. She went through a stage where her hair went to punk rocker. People asked, "Do you put gel in her hair?" "Yes, I put gel in my 3 month's hair...NO, and my child will not be in beauty pageants either."
