Since Adelaide's first book, she has had waves of book favorites - books that she would want to read over and over and over and over and over again. There was Brown Bear Brown Bear. There was "ABC book", "Princess Book", several Thomas books, D.W.'s Guide to Preschool, Green Eggs & Ham... and several others. The latest is Jake Baked the Cake. A 10 cent book that we got at a neighborhood yard sale. It combines two of Adelaide's favorite things in the world: weddings (she is very interested in princes and princesses getting married) and cake. She has essentially memorized the book as she has done with the others. It's been a sweet book to read. It has led to discussions about Mommy and Daddy's wedding, making cakes, pride (the good kind), choosing a good husband ("what prince will I marry?"), the lifelong commitment of marriage, and how happy I will be some day (God willing) to give her away to a good husband. We even have prayed together for Mommy and Daddy to be a good wife and husband and prayed for her and Clara's future husbands. She loves the book, so I thought it would be worth recording her "reading" it...

Adelaide is such a good reader. She can read me a story anytime. Loved the expression on her face when the phone rang.
I wish that we were closer, Adelaide and Eloise would be best friends! Eloise is exactly the same way about princesses/princes, weddings etc. We often look at our wedding albumn. She even refers to her Dad as "my prince." I'll have to look for that book at the library.
